Early Life Of Edmond Dede 

Edmond Dede was born on November 20, 1827 in New Orleans, Louisiana. His father was a music teacher, a poultry dealer and a marketman. 

When he was just a kid, he first learned how to play the clarinet, however he soon started playing the violin, where he was considered a prodigy. As time went by, he started to perform the compositions of Rodolphe Kreutzer, and even made a couple of his own, which he loved playing for people. 

The teachers of Edmond Dede involved Constantin Debeergue, and Ludovio Gabici. When it comes to music theory, he was guided by Eugene Prevost and Charles-Richard Lambert. 

At one point, Dede went to Mexico after the Mexican-American War, which happened in 1848. He eventually returned to the USA in 1852, and started to work as a cigar maker with the goal of saving money so he could go to Europe.

After saving enough money, he went to Paris and then Belgium, where he helped his friend Joseph Tinchant set up a branch of the Tinchant family’s cigar business.

In 1857, he returned to Paris and became an auditeur at the Paris Conservatoire. 

He studied at the Conservatoire with Fromental Halevy and Jean Dephin Alard. 

Late Life Of Edmond Dede

In the beginning of 1860s, Edmond Dede went to Bordeaux so he could take up a job offer, which was as an assistant conductor for the ballet at the Grand Theater, and within a couple of years into the job, he got a job at the Théâtre l’Alcazar, a popular café-concert in the city.

In the 1870s, he moved to the Folies Bordelaises and throughout his career, Dede continued to compose ard and music, which he sought to have performed at the more prestigious Grand Theater

In 1893, Edmond returned to Now Orleans, and during his voyage to the United States, his freighter sank, which resulted in a rescue and when he arrived to New Orleans, 3 benefit concerts were held in his honor. 

On January 5, 1903, Dede passed away.

Right now, his compositions are preserved at the Bibliotheque Nationale de France in paris.
