Through the federal Affordable Connectivity Program, Comcast is providing free and affordable internet throughout New Jersey.

The ACP offers low-income households that qualify for it a credit of up to $30 per month to use toward the price of their Internet and/or mobile services. For assistance signing up for ACP through Xfinity and applying their credit to any tier of Xfinity Internet service, including Internet Essentials, which offers home Internet service at no cost when the ACP benefit is applied, eligible residents can now visit one of 20 Xfinity Store locations in New Jersey.

Additionally, Comcast has unveiled two additional ways for users to gain access to the ACP:

Internet Essentials Plus is a new service tier that costs $29.95 per month and provides two times the download speed of Internet Essentials. After the $30/month ACP benefit is applied, eligible customers who sign up for Internet Essentials Plus through Xfinity will basically receive broadband for free.

Comcast’s top-rated mobile service, Xfinity Mobile, which offers 5G, is also qualified for the ACP benefit through Xfinity. Customers of Internet Essentials can use their $30/month ACP discount to an Xfinity Internet and Xfinity Mobile service package. For instance, after applying the ACP advantage, an Internet Essentials user (paying $9.95/month) can add one line of Unlimited service on Xfinity Mobile ($45/month) for $24.95/month.

Since 2011, more than 10 million people from low-income families have been connected to the Internet at home through Internet Essentials from Comcast, the country’s largest and most comprehensive Internet adoption programme, including 276,000 in New Jersey.

According to Gabriel Torres, vice president of marketing for Comcast Freedom Region, “with Internet Essentials and the Affordable Connectivity Program, money is no longer a barrier to low-income individuals accessing reliable broadband at home.” Residents may learn more about the ACP and how it works with our deals to deliver free Internet by visiting one of our Xfinity Comcast Store, which is a terrific resource. With order for qualified clients to benefit from everything the Internet has to offer, our team is prepared to assist them in learning about the ACP and registering for Xfinity services.

Comcast is working with thousands of partners nationwide, including nonprofits and city leaders, through Project UP, its $1 billion commitment to advance digital equity and help create a future of limitless possibilities, to raise awareness of and participation in ACP and to offer digital skills training so everyone can take advantage of the opportunities that come with being online. Comcast has given more than $300,000 to New Jersey nonprofits over the past year in support of digital equity initiatives in addition to offering free WiFi in 35 community centres as part of our Lift Zones programme throughout the state of New Jersey. Additionally, Comcast gave 500 laptops to Goodwill Industries of Southern NJ & Philadelphia for participants in their education and workforce development programmes.

“For more than ten years, United Way of Greater Union County has been a partner of Comcast’s Internet Essentials programme. We are proud to continue this partnership in order to make sure that all families are aware of the Affordable Connectivity Program and that those who qualify for it can access it. The ACP is crucial for families to gain the connectivity they need to access educational programmes, apply for jobs, finish social service programmes, communicate with their health service providers, and more. 800,000 people in New Jersey live in poverty, including more than 48,000 in Union County. We are able to spread the news about this resource’s availability and assist more families in connecting because to Comcast’s sponsorship, according to Juanita Vargas, vice president of programmes and operations at United Way of Greater Union County.
