5 Tips to Give Your Bedroom an Instant Facelift

[ad_1]

It’s easy for our house to feel a little boring and stale – especially our bedroom.

We all need a change every now and then.

Whether it’s adding a brand new colour cushion to the couch, or hanging your new favorite artwork, it’s very easy to breathe new life back into a much-loved space.

Our bedrooms, in particular, are one room that can easily be forgotten about – especially if it hasn’t had any love of attention in a while.

If you feel like spicing things up, a bedroom refresh is a quick and easy way to enjoy your space, without breaking the bank.

From new sheets to refresh walls, with a few simple hacks you can transform your sleep haven into a space that feels new and exciting again.

Don’t know where to start? Here are 5 tips to give your bedroom an instant facelift.

#1 Buy New Bed Sheets (or Freshen Up the Ones You Have)

It’s easy to go years holding onto the same bed sheets, especially if they’re still in great condition.

However, changing up your bedding is one of the simplest ways to give your room an instant refresh.

When it comes to buying bedding, quality really does make all the difference, so don’t be afraid to splash out on some nice new linen bed sheets and a duvet cover.

Switching up the colour palette of your bedding is a great way to change the look – just make sure you opt for something that’s going to complement the rest of the room.

You can play with seasonal trends – bright for summer or go for moody dark colours for winter.

If you prefer to hold onto your current bedding, there are a few tricks for making it feel fresh again.

White linens that have become discolored over time can be whitened, and you can freshen your mattress by spritzing it with a mix of fabric softener and baking soda.

If you have a dryer, you can also fluff your pillows by throwing them in with some softener and (believe it or not) tennis balls, which will knock out any lumps and leave them feeling fluffy and brand new.

#2 Try a Headboard

If your bed doesn’t have a headboard, adding one is a great way to bring a splash of newness to your room.

Headboards can turn your bed into a statement piece, with the added benefit of providing back support when you’re sitting up.

You can opt for an entirely new bedframe with a matching headboard, a free-standing one, or you can even make your own!

With plenty of colours, textures and shapes to choose from, a headboard can be a really creative way to revamp a room.

If you’re after extra storage, look for a headboard with built-in shelves.

#3 Reorganise Your Closet

Clutter is an inevitable part of life and even the tidiest of houses are likely to collect a little excess stuff over time.

This is simply because the more things we accumulate, the harder it is to find a spot for them.

The worst spots for clutter are usually places where you can quickly store things out of sight – like a closet.

With this in mind, reorganizing your closet is a great way to clear out old energy and create some more space.

Go through your clothes and get rid of anything you don’t want anymore (and consider putting any musty-smelling clothes through the wash).

Be on the lookout for ways you create a more organise storage system: could you use a few more hangers, a shoe rack, or perhaps some hooks on the wall for hanging bags?

Apply the same process to smaller jewellery or makeup drawers.

Remember, if you come across anything that currently doesn’t have a home, be sure to give it one.

#4 Change Up Your Walls

Another great way to transform your bedroom is by switching up the walls.

This could be through a new coat of paint or some fresh wallpaper, applied either to all four walls or simply one feature wall.

Be sure to pick a colour that you won’t get sick of!

Decorating the walls with some new art or prints is another excellent way to add excitement to a space, but don’t feel like you have to spend a lot to get the job done.

Mirrors are a versatile design piece that will help add a little glamour into your bedroom.

Plus, they’re great for small spaces and are perfect for maximising the natural light!

Or, you can add a new piece of art to the wall or some of your favourite framed photos.

#5 Try Some New Lighting

Lighting can have such a profound impact on the mood of a space, and changing it up can be a really easy way to give your bedroom a facelift.

Lamps are great for creating a sense of ambiance once the overhead lights are off (plus they look darn pretty).

Don’t forget to pay attention to the light shade – whether you’re switching up an old pendant light or adding in a lamp, a stylish light fixture can become a real feature piece.

If you’ve made the decision to refresh your room, it can be a daunting task.

Simply follow these principles to kickstart the process and you’ll have it done in no time – you might even invigorate yourself in the process.
